# Maps

Browse the maps in your account, read their status and details, and download the output assets such as the mesh GLB.

Maps section lists out all the maps you have captured so far with their status

### Map details

Each map section displays the Map Name, Map ID, Map Size, and the Date-Time of creation. Use the View Mesh button to view and download Map GLB files compatible with our SDK.

### Change the map thumbnail

You can replace a map's default thumbnail from its detail page.

1. Open the map from the **Maps** list.
2. Click **Change thumbnail** on the map image.
3. Pick a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image (up to 5 MB).

{% hint style="info" %}
Available on **active** maps for owners and admins. To do this via the API, see [Update a map's thumbnail](/fundamentals/rest-api-docs/map-operations.md#update-a-maps-thumbnail).
{% endhint %}

### Output assets

Once a map is active, processing also publishes the visual assets of that space: [panoramas](/fundamentals/maps/output-asset/360-virtual-tour.md), a [mesh](/fundamentals/maps/output-asset/mesh.md), and a [Gaussian Splat](/fundamentals/maps/output-asset/gaussian-splat.md). Which ones a map has depends on what was uploaded. See [Output Asset](/fundamentals/maps/output-asset.md) for the full matrix and how to download each one.

### Map Status

**Uploading** : Map data is being uploaded from the device to the cloud.

**Pending** : Map raw data is being processed in our cloud

**Active** : Map is active to download and make VPS calls

**Failed** : Map processing is failed, try mapping again

The MultiSet Mapping App supports every ARKit iPhone and iPad and every ARCore Android device. LiDAR is optional: on a device that has it, the scan also captures depth for a more accurate map.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.multiset.ai/fundamentals/maps.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
